MegaBowls
In a recent publication about this project it is said : " Looking for the boundaries of contemporary silver objects, Thalen & Thalen create a series of objects in fine silver, in dimensions beyond any imagination".
Creating MegaBowls is also about taking out the fences between Art, Craft and Design. To be able to physically make silver objects on a scale as we do, takes great efforts in the skills to work the silver.... Create designs based on Amphora's, but in the same moment related to daily life objects, may puzzle you, because the sizes don't match. These objects become free standing art objects. Objects that invite you to touch them, surfaces so tactile that you cannot withstand them... And .... all this in an ancient material, pure ..... pure as silver. Fine silver.
After designing the objects we make little scale models,
and yes, we make them also in fine silver.
